The IPL has got the popularity of a lot of foreign players soaring high. Lasith Malinga is one of them. Bowling his ferocious Yorker, he is loved throughout India. He is to play his first match of IPL – 6 for Mumbai Indians against Delhi Daredevils tonight.
And guess who is back for the Delhi Daredevils-Mourne Morkel. He has been thoroughly missed and comes in the place of Andre Russel.
So Ponting captaining the men in blue of the IPL, wins the toss and decides to bat.
Not long after Irfan Pathan bowls 5 awesome deliveries to Ponting and gets him out in the 6th. So a ‘maiden wicket’ start for the Delhi Daredevils with Sachin on strike in the 2nd over facing Nehra.
Oh my my ! And Sachin is run out at the non-strikers end for 1. Direct throw from Jayawardene had Sachin backed-up a lot. Not a good going for the master this IPL. Big task for Rohit Sharma to prove his worth today.
Karthik stands up once again for the Mumbai Indians. What a tournament he is having! Taking the attack to all the bowlers, suddenly after half of the innings, Mumbai are the team in command. 80-2. The stand between Karthik and Rohit Sharma is worth 79 now, out of which Sharma has scored 14. Six of his 12 were from a six off the outside edge in a free-hit.
In other matches where young players are showing their worth and proving that India have a bright future in cricket, Rohit Sharma is proving the reverse.
A fine innings by Dinesh Karthik which completely destroys the Delhi Daredevils -86 of 48 balls. But a  soft dismissal off Mourne Morkel gets him. He has missed a well deserved ton and the anger is quite visible on him.
Last quarter of the innings remaining and Mumbai are already 138-3 with Pollard at the crease. Can we see the first 200 of this IPL today ?
Rohit Sharma takes on the attack. After Karthik, Sharma clobbers the DD bowlers scoring 75 off 50 balls with 5 sixes, which takes the MI score to 209-5. The first 200 of IPL – 6!
Meanwhile, Jayawardene has been a part of 200+ successful score chase before. Can he do it today against Malinga, Pollard, Johnson, Ojha and Bhajji ? We will soon find out.
So, Harbhajan to start the proceedings; First ball, another golden duck for Unmukht Chand this IPL and one of the best catch you will see where Ricky Ponting is literally flying in the air to catch this one. Awesome, is the only word that comes to my mind.
Not late, Johnson removes the danger man Jayawardene in his first over. I feel, its Game Over For Delhi Daredevils after this.
Some resistance is shown by Warner and Juneja. Would have been good to see if the target had been 60 runs lesser. Though Warner hit some nasty blows, it was very boring to watch. He departed in the 11th over, scoring a good 61 of 37 balls. Jeevan Mendis the new foreign player lasted just one ball off Pollard and so 90 odd runs required in 6 overs.
No prizes for guessing anymore.
Mumbai Indians complete the formalities. Delhi score 165-9 in 20 overs!
Dinesh Karthik bags the Man of the Match for batting well under pressure.
Not the kind of matches you want in IPL though.

Delhi at the bottom of the table with 3 losses in a row. The cash box of their store is yet to open…
