Mujhe tum kabhi bhula na sako ge
Na jaane mujhe kyu yaqeen ho chala hai

– Late Mehdi Hassan

(“You will never be able to forget me,
I don’t know why but I believe it more and more each day.” )

How true were the words of the King of Ghazals who passed away yesterday silently leaving a deep void among the ghazal lovers. Extremely melodious voice and a unique style. He was not only a respected among the classical music fraternity but also loved by the masses. He created a unique style  by blending classical music with contemporary ghazal gayaki which made him immensely successful and popular throughout the globe. His loss cannot be filled there will always be a void but as he said he will always be remembered and his ghazals will always be resonated in the minds of his fans and the coming generations, and he will always be remembered happily. We would like to say to him “Nawajish Karam Shukriya Meherbaniya”.
